Inheriting his fortune at the age of 24, Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli also inherited his mother's love of art. During extensive European travels he was inspired by the 'house museum' that was to become London's V&A and had the idea of transforming his apartments into a series of themed rooms based on the great art periods (the Middle Ages, early Renaissance, baroque etc.). Crammed with big-ticket Renaissance artworks, these Sala d’Artista are exquisite works of art in their own right.
The gallery's new 1st-floor Pollaiolo Terrace (open from 11am to 6pm) offers an impeccably tasteful place for a drink or a meal.
