Housed in a neoclassical villa north of Il Castello, this gallery zooms in on modern Sardinian art, including works by island artists like Tarquinio Sini (1891–1943). His humorous contrasti (contrasts) showing frumpily dressed Sardinian girls standing beside glamorous, coiffed flappers, explore the social tension between traditional Sardinian ways and a rapidly modernising world. Works by Giuseppe Biasi (1885–1945), depicting Sardinian life in rich oils and bold brushstrokes, are another highlight. The gallery's palm-dotted garden commands terrific views of Cagliari's skyline.
The gallery also displays an excellent selection of contemporary works, and the Collezione Ingrao , comprised of more than 500 works of Italian art from the mid-19th century to the late 20th century. Frequent temporary exhibitions are also held to showcase works by contemporary artists.
