The province’s restored and revitalised main archaeological museum is an excellent showcase for a collection of mesmerising grave goods from the surrounding area, dating back to cave dwellers and the colonising Greeks. Don't miss the 4th-century-BC bronze candelabra topped with the figures of a warrior and a woman, his arm around her shoulder.
The upstairs room is dedicated to a stunning 1st-century-BC bronze head of Apollo, discovered in the Gulf of Salerno in 1930, and centuries' worth of findings from nearby Fratte, including a little vase engraved with salacious gossip describing gay and straight relations between the Greek, Roman and indigenous populations.
