This elegant 1742 Giorgio Massari-built mansion is 3km east of the Duomo (take Via De Gasperi). Despite its easy Palladian graces, this palace has seen its share of hard work: it was used during both World Wars for military purposes, and served as a farm for breeding silkworms. But through careful restoration of the interiors, Giambattista’s Tiepolo’s fresco Intelligence Triumphing over Ignorance remains intact. Impressive Intelligence blows into the room to the trumpets of Fame, as mighty Ignorance is struck by a putto’s arrow and tumbles from the ceiling.
