At the eastern limit of the gardens, on the island of Sant'Elena is the Memorial Park. Planted with shady umbrella pines, each commemorating a fallen patriot in WWI, it is a tranquil spot with spectacular views of the Bacino di San Marco. Families and children of all ages escape here to sit on the benches, roller skate around the rink and play on the slides and swings. Apart from a shady respite, it offers a slice of real Venetian life.
