Villa Barbaro
One of the most striking of Veneto’s UNESCO-listed Palladian villas, Villa Barbaro (sometimes known as Villa di Maser) is the masterwork of 16th-century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. The villa was built between 1549 and 1558, and is characterized by its Roman-inspired façade, with its four ionic columns reminiscent of Rome’s Fortuna Virilis.
Today the villa is both a working farm and winery, and visitors can explore the elegant interiors, view the carriage collection and enjoy wine tasting. Notable highlights include the Tempietto (chapel), a series of exquisite interior frescoes by artist Paolo Veronese and the nymphaeum, adorned with elaborate stuccoes by Alessandro Vittoria.
