Latvia's answer to the Chinese terracota army can barely scare a crow, since it is entirely comprised of straw-filled unarmed civilians. A local granny, Daina Kučera, populated a small roadside garden with over 200 almost-human-sized straw dolls dressed as our contemporaries of all ages and walks of life – from school children to policemen and robbers. The author is around most of the time, guarding her work from vandals and collecting donations, which she spends on designing new dolls.
The garden is located on the main road near the main square, so you'll need a talent to miss it.
