Above the Gates of Dawn you'll find this 18th-century chapel, aka the Gate of Dawn Chapel of Mary the Mother of Mercy. Inside is a venerated painting of the Virgin Mary, known as the Madonna of the Gates of Dawn, believed to date from the early 17th century. It is revered equally by the Catholic, Orthodox and Uniate (Greek Catholic) faiths and has evolved into one of Eastern Europe’s leading pilgrimage destinations.
