It's hard to imagine a less inspiring building in which to house the national museum, but even if the building looks like an abandoned Yugoslav factory, the collection inside is solid, if sometimes a little dry. The collection documents the history of Macedonia from neolithic times through to the communist era and contains an ethnographic exhibition, plus ancient jewellery and coins, icons and wood-carved iconostases.
