Anyone with an interest in Yugoslav-era architecture will find this large resort's spacious socialism-meets-Spanish-Mission aesthetic fascinating. Mature trees and modern sculpture are scattered between the terracotta-tiled units connected by white colonnades, and there’s a swimming pool and tennis courts galore, which are available for hire by nonguests. The lobby is a wonderful period piece, with white marble floors, brass light fixtures, octagonal handrails, boxy white vinyl couches and potted palms. You really wouldn’t be surprised if either Roger Moore’s James Bond or Marshal Tito swaggered into view at any time.
