The best place to marvel at De Pijp's colourful scene is the Albert Cuypmarkt, Amsterdam's largest and busiest market. Vendors loudly tout their odd gadgets and their arrays of fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices. They sell clothes and other general goods too, often cheaper than anywhere else. Snack vendors tempt passers-by with herring sandwiches, egg rolls, donuts and caramel-syrup-filled stroopwafels . If you have room after all that, the surrounding area teems with cosy cafes and eateries.
