At the northwest corner of the historic core stands the notoriously off-kilter Oldehove. Things went wrong shortly after the tower was started in 1529 and it never regained its proper posture, nor its intended height. While by no means a Leaning Tower of Pisa, it presents a dramatic sight and may be climbed for the views.
Compare the tilt to the very erect neighbouring statue of Pieter Jelles Troelstra, a Dutch socialist who called for revolution after WWI.
