Occupying three glorious 17th-century canal houses, this cultural centre offers lectures by world-renowned authors and debates on the topics of the day, sometimes in English. Even if nothing is on it's worth a visit to view the three-storey main auditorium, which was once the largest clandestine church in the Netherlands.
The centre was named for the hat shop once located here (spot the tile on the facade that identified it).
