Containing almost 800,000 items in its permanent galleries, this is the largest museum in the country. Highlights include the Faras Collection, a display of early Christian art originating from a town on the banks of the Nile that was rescued by Polish archaeologists from the rising waters of the Aswan High Dam, the extensive gallery of medieval art, and the best of Polish art, housed on the upper floors.
