Although it may not look like it, the area around the Świętokrzyski National Park is home to the largest ancient metallurgical centre discovered in Europe to date. This museum was established on the site of primitive 2nd-century smelting furnaces (dymarki) discovered in 1955. The entrance to the museum is about 300m from the national park gate, just outside the village of Nowa Słupia.
