The only bona fide 'sight' on Madeira's little sister is the Casa Museu Colombo just off Largo do Pelhourinho. It's claimed Cristopher Columbus lived here with his wife Dona Felipa Moniz in the late 1470s while still a sugar trader. The museum contains exhibitions on the colonisation of the New World and Colombus' voyages. As there's no real evidence Colombus actually lived here, the information on the famous explorer is a bit vague and based more on popular myth than historical fact.
