This miniature, zig-zag-walled fort, just 1.4km south of the praça, houses a military museum . The Forte de Nossa Senhora da Graça , 3km north of town, with a similar shape, was added in the following century; these days, it's in bad shape (abandoned and dilapidated so take care if visiting), although not completely out of bounds (it still has signs from its days as a former army base).
