Casual strolls through the linden-scented, tree-lined neighbourhoods of Amalienau (to the city’s west along pr Mira) and Maraunenhof (at the north end of the Upper Pond) provide a glimpse of cultured pre-WWII Königsberg. Amalienau is particularly lovely, with an eclectic range of villas along ul Kutuzova and the streets connecting prs Pobedy and Mira. Maraunenhof has several appealing small hotels as well as the German consulate where visas are issued.
