Dating from 1906–7 the one-time Esders and Scheefhaals department store has been beautifully restored, including the rebuilding of its cupola, destroyed in the 1930s so as not to clutter the view towards the Admiralty down Gorokhovaya ul. The glorious Style Moderne building, now dubbed Au Pont Rouge after the Krasny most (Red Bridge) it stands beside, is once again a department store.
