A popular and worthwhile excursion from Sochi is to Vorontsovskaya Cave, inland from Matsesta. It has about 500m of illuminated passages with stalactites and the like. It gets cold inside, so dress accordingly. The scenic drive from Sochi takes about one hour; a round-trip taxi should cost about R3000 or you could join an organised tour (per person R400).
