Ibiza has over 30 cove beaches and this exquisite little bay, around 3km east of Portinatx, has to be one of the most beautiful. The approach road to the beach is truly spectacular, offering a succession of vistas over azure water far below, though it is very rough and potholed. Once you reach the shore there's a tiny sandy beach, a collection of fisher's shacks, and an excellent Dutch-run chiringuito for very moderately priced snacks and drinks.
You can swim (or scramble over rocks) to a second deserted cove just to the south for secluded sunbathing – the seaweed here forms a natural mattress. Just above the beach the concrete blot on the landscape is the carcass of a long-abandoned hotel project (scheduled for demolition). There's no access by bus.
