A grand town mansion set around an inner courtyard was revamped and reopened as this museum in 2012. A dream come true for German art dealer Wolfgang Hörnke, the museum is an ode to the wonderfully weird world of Catalan surrealist artist Salvador Dalí (1904–89). Some 226 original works from the 1930s to the 1970s are displayed on three levels.
Sorcery, bullfighting (with the matador often given a monstrous touch) and mythology are recurring themes in the works that grace the opulent wood-floored rooms. Among the standouts are series of lively engravings, including Faust (1968) and Les Hippies (1969–70).
