Take a lane off the C733 highway beside the restaurant Camí de Balàfia to reach the minuscule, once-fortified hamlet of Balàfia, where several homes have their own defence towers. Balàfia is sometimes described as an Arab village, though the only thing definitely Arabic about the settlement is its name. There are lots of privado signs around – but don't let these deter you from exploring its couple of lanes (the lanes are not private).
