A finger of sand jutting out across the bay toward Santander, roughly opposite the Península de la Magdalena, El Puntal is idyllic on calm days (but beware the currents). Weather permitting, passenger ferries (€3.80 return) sail there about every 30 minutes from 10.30am to 7.30pm, May to October, from the Estación Marítima Los Reginas .
