Packed with tanned sun worshippers in the summer, Blue Flag–designated Tylösand, 8km west of town, is Halmstad's most popular beach, with a perpetual party vibe courtesy of the surrounding bars and restaurants. Head to the signposted Tjuvahålan smuggler's cove to search for pirate treasure, and walk north from Tjuvahålan to Frösakull for some peace and quiet.
East of town, the shallow, calm waters of Östra Stranden are particularly family friendly, while nudists can bronze their behinds at secluded Hägon further south.
