While the Nationalmuseum is closed for renovations (set to reopen in 2017), highlights and temporary exhibitions from the collection will be displayed here, in the smaller but very lovely Konstakademien building. The museum has thousands of works to choose from, including painting and sculpture, design objects, prints and drawings from late medieval to current times, so the temporary space is well worth looking into.
The temporary exhibits are well conceived and entertaining. A recent exhibition of highlights from the collection was organised around the theme of the 'selfie', tracing a line from a Rembrandt self-portrait to today's obsession with the likes of Instagram.
