Skärhamn is home to the superb Nordiska Akvarellmuseet , a sleek waterside building housing exhibits by the likes of Julie Nord, whose ink drawings bring to mind a darker, more nightmarish Alice in Wonderland , and Lars Lerin's compelling cityscapes, seemingly illuminated from within.
Attached is award-winning cafe-restaurant Vatten , whose legendary fish dishes (Skr195 to Skr225) are perfectly matched by the archipelago backdrop.
If you're inspired to linger longer, the museum rents out five modern, cube-like guest studios that sit right above the water (artists/general public Skr500/1000).
