The magnificent private palace Steninge Slott, 7km east of Sigtuna, dates from 1705 and was designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. At the time of research it was closed for renovation; check the website for updates and a schedule of guided tours. In the beautiful grounds there is also the excellent Slottsgalleria , complete with art gallery, glassworks, candle-making area, cafe and restaurant.
