A short walk west of the tourist office is Laestadius Pörte, the compact log cabin that was home to Lars Levi Laestadius, his wife and their 14 children (yes, it's rather like fitting a dozen people in a Mini) between 1826 and 1849. Inside you'll find some wooden pews and an eager volunteer ready to tell you about the preacher's life.
