The Aitik open-pit copper mine in Malmberget is Europe’s largest, producing 18 million tonnes of copper ore per year. The view of the pit from the top of the hairpin bends is particularly impressive. The tourist office runs tours of the mine at 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between mid-June and early August.
