This wonderful old red-and-white cable car has transported walkers up the mountain ridge to the Gemmi Pass (2322m) and alpine Lake Dauben since the 1950s. A fantastic area for hiking, it is riddled with well-marked trails; grab a map from the tourist office and, before striding out from the top station, ogle the incredible panorama of Valais at your feet from the steely panoramic platform.
