The 19th-century Surup Krikor Lusavoriç Kilise is one of Anatolia's few remaining Armenian churches. Its domed interior, complete with dilapidated frescoes and three gilded altars, was undergoing a long-overdue restoration when we last passed through Kayseri that will, hopefully, see the church returned to its original splendour. If finished by the time you arrive, the painting on the left, with four fiery columns topped by flaming crosses, depicts the vision of St Gregory, who grew up in Kayseri.
The church is located 1.6km southwest of Cumhuriyet Meydanı. The most direct way to get here from Inönu Bulvarı is to turn right onto Nazım Bey Bulvarı and then left onto Necip Fazıl Bulvarı. The church is three blocks down the road.
