This interesting museum occupies an ornate mansion (1896) 500m northwest (and uphill) from the main square Cumhuriyet Meydanı past a bazaar; look for signs reading 'Müze – Museum'. The recreated 1st-floor rooms – large bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges – are reminders that upper-class Ottomans enjoyed a sophisticated and cosmopolitan life before it all came to an end in the early 20th century.
The ethnographic exhibits include the usual dusty weapons and folk costumes though the sand mosaic of Atatürk (who tarried here in 1924) is unusual.
