The Al Sakhir Tower of the Formula 1 Racetrack rises above the desert like a beacon. If you're visiting Bahrain out of season and want to see what a state-of-the-art track looks like, then you can join a 40-minute tour of the grounds, media centre and control room, and even take a lap around the circuit. Tours can be booked online.
There are also opportunities to see drag racing at the circuit and to experience four-wheel driving (BD15 for a 25-minute ride, BD70 for self-drive). Go-karting (BD10 for a 15-minute drive) is available daily.
From Manama, just about all roads point to the circuit. The track is 30km from Manama and it takes around 35 minutes to get there by car. There is no public transport.
