This traditional house, built in 1905 in the heart of Muharraq, was saved from demolition by the Sheikh Ebrahim Centre for Culture and Research. Once the home of a pearl merchant, it has been reinvented as a museum devoted to the history of pearling (on the 1st floor), with an airy gallery displaying contemporary art grafted artfully onto the back of the building down below; exhibitions change two or three times a year. There's an excellent gift shop.
