Tucked away in a little courtyard close to Erbil's main square, visitors can wonder into what was once the capital's first school and is now a museum. This lovely little building feels somewhat out of place amidst the more modern architecture surrounding it. Visitors will find quaint photographs of teachers and students from times gone by as well as archives, including teachers' pay slips from the 1920s.
