The first Syriac heritage museum in Iraq opened in 2011 in an attempt to recognise and highlight the importance of the Christian community in the country. The museum is located in the Christian quarter of Ainkawa, in the north of the city, and exhibits beautiful fabrics, farming appliances and photographs and works of prominent Syriac figures. The museum is a stone's throw from St George Church.
