Enjoying a glass of mint tea or a Turkish-style coffee at the Arab cafe near the end of this hugely atmospheric shopping arcade is an enjoyable diversion when exploring the Muslim Quarter. Originally a Crusader marketplace, the building was extended by the Mamluks in the mid-14th century. The part closest to Al-Wad St dates from the Crusader period. The souq is lined with shops and has a large caravanserai on its southern side housing a department of Al-Quds University.
