An eclectic range of exhibits, from electronics and space paraphernalia to fossils, stuffed animals and an 18m whale skeleton, is on display here. The museum is only open in the mornings for school visits.
Fatima Mosque
Considerable wealth has been channelled into religious architecture, with some 60% of Kuwait’s mosques financed and built by individuals, including this distinctive green-and-white domed mosque in Abdullah Al Salem.
Al Shaab Gate
City gates once lined up along Al Soor St - four that remain are Al Maqsab, Al Jahra, Al Shamiya and Al Shaab - trace a line between them on the map and youve a clear picture of what Old Kuwait consisted of and just how much it has grown.
Al Jahra Gate
City gates once lined up along Al Soor St - one that remains is Al Jahra Gate, at the centre of where Al Soor St meets the First Ring Road. Despite the gates ancient appearance, the wall and gates were only constructed around 1920. The wall was demolished in 1957.
Lothan Youth Achievement Center
The Lothan Youth Achievement Center gives the privileged youth of Kuwait City the opportunity to interact with poorer communities. Organisers find this kind of community service helps young people channel their energies into positive, character-building activity.
Oil Display Centre
The oil display centre is a well-organised and self-congratulatory introduction to the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and the countrys oil business. Its located in Al Ahmadi, built to house Kuwaits oil industry in the 1940s and 50s and named for the then emir, Sheikh Ahmed.
Beit al
