'Open doors, open minds' is the motto of this institution, founded by Dubai's current ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, in 1998 to build bridges between cultures and help visitors and expats understand UAE traditions and customs. The centre runs guided tours of the Al Fahidi Historic District and Jumeirah Mosque, and also hosts hugely popular communal meals where you can meet, ask questions of and exchange ideas with nationals while enjoying delicious Emirati food. All tours and meals must be booked in advance.
