A short drive east of town on Hwy 540, the island's biggest coffee estate is planted with more than 4 million trees, producing about 60% of the state's entire crop. Around the back of the plantation store and visitor center, you can glimpse the roasting process, peruse historical photographs and sample estate-grown coffees including a robust peaberry and flavored chocolate macadamia nut. Afterward, take a quick self-guided walking tour of the farm, or join a free guided tour (check current schedules online).
The rolling seaside plantation, where coffee berries are cooled by tradewinds, is 100% powered by renewable energy.
