The oldest public building in the US, this low-slung adobe complex started out as home to New Mexico’s first Spanish governor in 1610; was occupied by Pueblo Indians following their Revolt in 1680; and after 1846 became the seat of the US Territory’s earliest governors. It now holds fascinating displays on Santa Fe’s multi-faceted past, and some superb Hispanic religious artworks, while its modern adjunct alongside, the New Mexico History Museum , tells the story of the state as a whole.
