South Beach’s pastel heart is its Art Deco Historic District, which stretches from 18th St and south along Ocean Dr and Collins Ave. The smooth lines and pale color scheme of this designated historic district were ironically meant to, in the early 20th century, evoke the future and futuristic modes of transportation. Your first stop here should be the Art Deco Welcome Center, run by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL).
