Hwy 395 barrels on south to Independence and Manzanar National Historic Site , which memorializes the war relocation camp where some 10,000 Japanese Americans were unjustly interned during WWII following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Interpretive exhibits and a short film vividly chronicle life at the camp, marked by a short self-guided auto tour route.
