Waaaay back in 1881, when the original Buckhorn Saloon opened up, the owner promised patrons a free beer or whiskey shot for every pair of deer antlers they brought. Although the location has changed a couple of times, you can still see the collection – and the bar – at the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum
An overpriced beverage is enough to buy your admission to the Saloon, which has an impressive number of mounted animals watching over you, including a giraffe, a bear and all manner of horn-wielding mammals. If that doesn't quench your thirst for taxidermy, pony up for a kitsch adventure that includes wildlife from all over the world, as well as oddities such as a two-headed cow and an eight-legged lamb.
It's not just dead animals you'll experience. There are other only-in-Texas displays, such as maps of Texas made from rattlesnake rattles and a jaw-dropping collection of Lone Star Beer paraphernalia. Your admission is good for two days so there's time to see it all.
