Situated 7 miles west of the Idaho state line, most of Pullman's sights are related directly to expansive WSU, which accommodates more than 22,000 students and one of Washington's leading agricultural schools. In this small 'city within a city' is the WSU's Museum of Art , which mounts some lively, well-curated shows featuring Northwestern artists.
Other WSU museums include the Jacklin Collection , showcasing more than 2000 specimens of petrified wood. The Museum of Anthropology documents fossils relating to human evolution.
If you're staying over, try the Hilltop Inn & Restaurant , about a mile outside of town. For eating don't miss Pullman's most famous restaurant, Ferdinand's , which sells the locally concocted Cougar Gold cheese (white sharp cheddar, sold by the can) along with milkshakes, ice cream and a decent espresso.
