For people-watching and a bit of exercise, stroll the mile-long beachfront walk that runs between the Sheraton Maui and Hyatt Regency Maui hotels. In addition to the action on the shore, both the Hyatt and the Westin Maui, located at the midpoint of the walk, are worth a detour for their dazzling garden statuary and landscaping replete with free-form pools and rushing waterfalls. At the Hyatt, pampered black African penguins love to waddle beside their four-star penguin cave, found in the rambling lobby.
At the southern end of the walk, beyond the Hyatt, the graceful 17ft-high bronze sculpture The Acrobats, by Australian John Robinson, makes a dramatic silhouette at sunset.
In the early evening you’ll often be treated to entertainment from the beachside restaurants.
