The Towles Court Artist Colony offers gallery hopping with a Sarasota twist. In this neighborhood, houses of fine art are set up in quirky bungalows and colorful cabins set among moss-draped oaks and lush sculpture gardens. Dozens of artists work out of this colony, and the studio-galleries feature everything from silver jewelry and mixed media installations to classic watercolors. When you tire of shopping, stop for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants mixed in between the galleries, or stop for an impromptu Tai-Chi class in the outdoor sculpture garden. Yes, Towles Court is that kind of place. On the third Friday of each month, galleries open their doors for an evening stroll (6pm to 10pm).
