This sandy beach and sheltered bay is tucked between a marina and the mountains. It's overlooked by the Marriott resort facing Kalapaki Bay and by an enviable collection of houses atop a rocky ridge to the east. Its easy-access location and versatility make it popular with families. Calmer waters toward the east are good for swimming, although a sandy bottom makes for poor snorkeling. Swells to the west draw bodyboarders and both novice and intermediate surfers.
For surfers, it's an easy paddle out of about 50yd to the reef, and there's no pounding shore break to get through. Most go right for a mellow, predictable wave, but there are more aggressive lefts, too.
