Between the cruise ships and Willoughby Ave, Marine Park is an open space where kids practice skateboard tricks, state workers enjoy a sack lunch and tired tourists occasionally take a sunny nap. The dock has a sculpture of Patsy Ann , the late faithful Fido, the ‘Official Greeter of Juneau,’ thanks to her tendency to rush to meet cruise ships.
Spotting scopes let you search Mt Juneau for mountain goats. A block inland from the waterfront is South Franklin Street , a refurbished historical district where many buildings date from the early 1900s and have since been turned into bars, gift shops and restaurants.
